Erik is one of the founding members
of The Therapy Network. As a native from the Netherlands,
In 1987 Erik moved to the United States, and worked
as a staff physical therapist at Mercy Hospital
in Des Moines, IA. Erik’s Manual Therapy
certification in 1989 was taught by world renowned
Stanley Paris, PhD, PT. In 1990 Erik moved to
Virginia Beach, VA to become the clinical program
director of an outpatient orthopaedic physical
therapy clinic; part of a national based organization.
In 1991 he started at The Therapy Network. (then
known as Ghent Physical Therapy) He initiated
and developed the sports medicine program for
the first semi-pro soccer team in Hampton Roads
(the Hurricanes). Erik has held a teaching position
in the Doctorate Program in Physical Therapy at
Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA since 1995.
He is giving presentations on a variety of topics
and continues to see patients on a full time basis.
He devotes much time and effort to continuing
education, and takes several courses each year
in the USA and abroad. Consequently, he is always
looking for new and better ways to treat patients,
and is constantly on the forefront of utilizing
new treatment approaches and techniques. As a
promoter of the art and science of manual therapy
as a specialty within physical therapy, he is
active in the national and international organizations
of manual therapy. Erik's subspecialties in physical
therapy are manual therapy, sports medicine, and
the treatment of pain and dysfunction of myofascial
origin.

Peter is one of the founders
of The Therapy Network. Peter is a transplant
from New England, born in the smallest state in
the union (Rhode Island). Peter and his wife,
Deborah, relocated to Virginia after graduating
from college. Industrial rehabilitation has always
been his special interest. He was the program
coordinator for the first CARF (Commission of
Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) accredited
work hardening program in Tidewater. Peter has
participated in the University of Michigan’s
summer engineering program for ergonomics, as
well as numerous courses in industrial rehabilitation.
Peter is recognized as an expert witness and has
testified in most of the local municipalities.
Peter has always had an attraction to the ocean
and water in general. If he is not working, you
can find him yelling for his kids on the sidelines
or out on the bay.
