Fall Prevention

The Importance of Fall Prevention

Fall Prevention is vital to enjoying a normal lifestyle. While it is true, statistics show that many injury-causing falls happen to senior citizens. Falls that end in a physical injury can occur to anyone, at any age.

Here are some alarming statics about injury from falls:

  • Every second of every day, an older adult (age 65+) suffers a fall in the U.S.—making falls the leading cause of injury and injury death in this age group
  • Falls are responsible for 90% of injury-related emergency room and hospital visits among adults 65+
  • 95% of hip fractures are caused by a fall
  • Falls are the most common cause of head injuries, including Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
  • Falling once doubles your chances of falling again

The importance of Fall Prevention can not be understated. Physical therapy can prevent a fall and help you recover from injuries after a fall.
